Marketing to Scale - Marketing Content Development/Testing Expert

Project Description
CNFA is currently accepting applications for technical experts for the anticipated USAID-funded 'Feed the Future (FTF) Marketing to Scale.' The goal of this program is to increase the number of farmers utilizing new innovative agricultural technologies, or scaling technologies, amongst BFS project direct beneficiaries as well as the wider smallholder farmer community, or indirect beneficiaries, through targeted marketing support. The intention is to maximize the market penetration of new agricultural technologies within and beyond Feed the Future Zones of Influence. Given the nature of this award, the leadership of this project must foster a productive working relationship with multiple stakeholders including USAID missions and Washington offices, Agriculture Research Centers, Innovation Labs, Implementing Partners, and Feed the Future supported micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), notably seed companies.
Position Summary
The Marketing Content Development & Testing Specialist will support component three and the Agriculture Technologies Expert/Lead's activities. The marketing content will be determined and tested in collaboration with the partners in each target country. Current implementing partners will provide guidance from their own experiences and testing will be needed one time only for most types of content. The following activities will be required for target countries: creative development and testing, packaging, promotional materials, and sales presentation materials. S/he will be the primary point of contact for USAID-directed questions in this activity area and will be responsive to the COR and CO with regards to inquiries in this area of responsibility.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five relevant years of experience in marketing development and testing, especially in agricultural/agribusiness/value chain marketing activities;
  • Bachelors' degree in a relevant subject area,
  • Master's degree preferred, but not required;
  • Experience working in developing countries, especially sub-Saharan Africa and Asia;
  • Strong ability to deal with diverse stakeholders;
  • Experience in similar work for US government, other institutional donors, or international NGOs;
  • Demonstrated strong writing and oral presentation skills in English is required;
  • Fluency in a second language is preferred.
